Session 10 (week 13) >> How Green Are You?

To be environmentally friendly you just have to try having a lifestyle that is better for the environment. Basically, try to think in the planet and people who inhabit it. People learn about environmentally friendly practices in some schools, looking government campaigns on internet and at home. But the last, it depends of the each family and them customs.

In my case, my family and I have incorporated recycling into our home. I think it´s not enough, but we have starting for something. We try to conserving water, driving less and walking more, consuming less energy, don’t smoke and we separate waste according its type.
Also, I prefer walk and use public transportation instead drive in the week. This way, I help to pollute less.

Until now, I didn’t joint or supported any eco-organizations. But I really like Greenpeace and when I finish the university and work, I want to support it.

Everyone has a responsibility to reduce their individual carbon footprint, and there are lots of ways to do so. I do it trying to eat less meat, don’t wasting food, recycling, only using the lights I need at night and buying energy -saving products.

In our society, we missed the idea of caring our planet and we just think in get more things. Santiago is completely consumer. People don’t care about anything or anyone, just think in themselves. But this is a really great mistake. One day, we are going to lost everything, because the only thing important in the life is the planet. We need to survive just the water, air and the sun.

Session 9 (week 12) >> MY FUTURE JOB

I would like to have a job like dentist, specializing in oral rehabilitation or surgery
for helping people with oral issues because they had an accident.
That is the reason because I am studying odontology, and then I should specialize me at the university too.

I imagine it in an emergency room of a hospital sometimes and other days just in my own dental practice.

I think it will be a little stressful but at the same time very comforting.
Maybe if I pretend work in a hospital, this will not happen in Santiago, because it is very difficult when you pull out of college and have no experience.

I want to work in other sides, but before to work in another country I would like to work in my own country a couple of years. I think that if you want to help people, you have to beginning in your own country.

After it, I want to travel a lot.  Meet different countries and I will like to go a poor country to work as a volunteer, but for does it; I need to save money first!!!

I know it is going to happen, because I am going to do my best effort! I just have to wait for it!

Practice

*Unit 4 "Facing problem"
* Unit 5 "Financial Matters"

Write a short post saying the scores you got at each Quiz and answer the following questions:
1. What do you think about compulsive spenders?
We think that compulsive spenders are sick people and they are increasing the last few years. This issue is because the easy access to buy even people don´t has money. And the capitalism and consumerism promote it, because people think that is happier when they have more things.
People focus more on consumerism and waste rather than investments, there are no saving for the future and their family.

2. What's the most common problem a Dentists face along their career?
The most common problem is the expensive cost of the dental materials. So when you are begging your career after to finish the university, you don’t have enough money to pay them.
Also the dentists have to have the abilities to know how to treat the different patients with their personalities and costumes.

People consult dentist to find out improve the cosmetics appearance of their teeth and they are not interesting to improve caries problems and dental health.

Session 8 (week 11) >> SUMMER PLANS

This summer I´ll go to “Torres Del Paine” a national park. It`s located in Chile´s Region XII.
My boyfriend bought the plane tickets for us about 1 month ago, and we left Santiago at the end of January. And we returned the third week of February. So we are ready with this part.
We decided go to Torres Del Paine because too many people have told us that It´s an extremely amazing experience and we love trekking and the nature.
We plan to travel 20 days approximately. The airplane arrived to Punta Arenas and we are going to stay just one day over there to get ready and rest. Immediately the next day we are going to beginning our trek to glaciers. It`s going to during about 1 week. After it, I want to go to Argentina.
To do this trip, after finishing the university year period I´m going to work very hard during Christmas period, new year´s eve and some days in January. Because It`s a very expensive travel and I need to buy suitable clothes.
During the trip, we will be only us. But we have some friends who go on the same date. So I suppose we are going to share some time together.

To conclude it, I expecting to have too much fun and take too many pictures about the trip. I am pretty sure I am going to have a really good time with my boyfriend J

Session 7 (Week 9) >> MY FAVORITE FOOD

My favorite food`s 4-cheese Lasagna. I really love it, but I like too much hamburgers also. It’s my favorite food because I like all the ingredients that it has especially the cheese and white sauce.  I never tired to eat it!!!

I eat it about once time a month, when my mom takes me to an Italian restaurant called “Trattoria Calypso”.  It is located in San Jose de Maipo, around 50 km from my home.  But sometimes, I eat it when I cook it at weekends.

For cook it, I need to the cheese mixture: ricotta, mozzarella and provolone cheese, pepper, salt, parsley and eggs.  And for the lasagna (mass): a package no-cook lasagna noodle, olive oil, spaghetti sauce and parmesan cheese.

First you have to preheat oven to 350 degrees. Then shred provolone and combine all the cheese mixture ingredients and mix well. After it, oil bottom of a pan with a thin layer and add spaghetti sauce to bottom of the pan. Place 3-4 noodles across bottom of the pan, cover with cheese mixture and spread. Add more spaghetti sauce and repeat until top of pan is almost reached.  Add noodles and then add spaghetti sauce on top. By last, cover with grated parmesan cheese and above it, cover pan with aluminum foil, shiny side down. Cook it for 40 minutes until browned.

So as you can see it, it is very easy to cook!! Try it :)

Session 3 (Week 4) >> THE BEST HOLIDAYS

The best holidays that I´ve had were 3 years ago in Ecuador. This awesome trip was when I finished high school in 2012. And I was with 7 friends, just girls. We were travelling for one month. It was my second trip without my family and I learned and did so many things.

I love spend my holidays travelling alone, because It is the chance to get new experiences, know different people to me and learn about a different place and culture.

I loved too many places, like "Montañita", "Baños" and "Los Frailes". All of them were different, some with beaches and others with jungle. Residents and the others tourists were so nice and friendly. We got hostel, food and tours extremely chip. And that made that I fall in love of Ecuador. But the reason because it has been the best so far is because it was perfect, we didn´t have any problem and I have the most beautiful remembers of it. When I get some money, I want to come back with my best friends.

Bye :)

Session 1 (Week 2) >> A COUNTRY I'D LIKE TO VISIT

I would like to go to USA. Because I have family and friends there and I really love it.
People used to think that America is so suffocating, just a country of sales and things like that. But I don't think that. The people I know are all very open, they always say what they think and they are very spontaneous also.

I know about United State that is a capitalist, developed and a big country with high technology. And a place with so many opportunities, you can do whatever you want. If you wanna study, you can. If you want to work, you can. And nobody care about your country of origin.

First, I would like to go to visit my family, because I miss them a lot. But in a few years, when I finish studying my career, I want to go to continue to study. I feel that maybe I would have more choices of enter to a dental specialty. But it's just a dream. Nobody knows what is going to happen when I finish studying the undergraduate!!!
